The Outlast Trials: How to Unlock Outfits

While it’s certainly not the focal point of one of this year’s best horror games, unlocking outfits in The Outlast Trials proves entertaining. It’s fun to run through Trials, do your very best to score high, and earn credits to buy new cosmetics for your Reagent. Here’s how to unlock outfits in The Outlast Trials!

How to Unlock Outfits in The Outlast Trials

You will unlock outfits in The Outlast Trials by completing Trials, then turning around and spending the earned credits on the various cosmetics in the appearance menu. Most of the outfits, which are entire ensembles that overwrite all other cosmetics, cost quite a bit: 10,000 Credits!

For context, to earn 10,000 Credits, you must beat numerous Trials, sometimes in the double-digits, depending on performance, before you can afford a single outfit. There are 15 currently available in the game, with a small handful unlockable only through the Reagent Starter Pack DLC.

Which Outfits to Unlock in The Outlast Trials

This is one of those times when it’s totally up to player preference. No single outfit in the game provides a bonus or boost. You won’t magically be able to hide from enemies, so worry not. They’re all purely cosmetic.

But if you want a recommendation, I’m a big fan of the Space Oddity Vapor (Reagent Starter Pack), Good Doctor, and Favorite Daughter.

What it Takes to Unlock All Outfits in The Outlast Trials

If you want to unlock every outfit in the game, you’ll first need to buy the DLC, which is $19.99 or $9.99 if you bought The Outlast Trials in Early Access (potentially for a limited time!). Then, there are the in-game cosmetics, available for 10,000 Credits.

Ten outfits are available in the game to buy with Credits, meaning you require 100,000 Credits to unlock all of them. In the Early Access version, additional cosmetics were only available to Reborn. Once you finish Program X, you can become Reborn and earn Release Tokens. Many of those most unique cosmetics required 10 Release Tokens.

All Available Outfits in The Outlast Trials

You’ll unlock the ability to purchase additional outfits in The Outlast Trials by ranking up after completing Trials. Every rank unlocks new cosmetics, and we’ll likely see additional outfits and clothing added to the game via events and content updates. For now, here’s what you can buy:

  • Space Oddity Vapor (Reagent Starter Pack)
  • Hazard Ignorance (Reagent Starter Pack)
  • Bibendum Glut (Reagent Starter Pack)
  • Chemistry Teacher (Reagent Starter Pack)
  • Grizzly Hazmat (Pre-Order Bonus)
  • Good Doctor
  • Shivered Unit
  • Flies on the Windshield
  • Wired Scarecrow
  • Blitz Wimpy
  • Spicy Pumpkin
  • Rusted Ilizarov
  • The Hug
  • Ovipositor
  • Favorite Daughter
  • Crossing Guard (Toxic Shock Event)

We’ll update this list of outfits in the game as more become available and as we continue to rank up through the levels!
