Battlestate Games Angers Fans With The Unheard Edition Controversy

For those who purchased the Edge of Darkness pre-order edition of Escape From Tarkov, the recently revealed Unheard Edition feels like an absolute slap in the face. It’s like they slapped us, took our wallet, and then spit on our brand-new shoes.

When buying the EoD Edition of Escape From Tarkov, one of the key selling points was “all future DLC,” including expansions. It’s why many of us paid the price to support Battlestate Games, and then they removed EoD from the store page, claiming they were coming up on release. That day never happened, of course.

This new version of the game, dubbed The Unheard Edition, will cost $250 for new players or $100 to upgrade from the Edge of Darkness Edition. It’s appalling.

For that staggering price tag, you’ll receive:

  • Instant access to the closed beta
  • Digital copy for pre-load
  • Access to PvE co-op mode with persistence progression, which will never wipe
  • Enhanced stash size (10×72)
  • Unique in-game ID
  • Expanded PMC pockets
  • Increased Fence standing
  • More Flea Market slots
  • Unique in-game melee weapon
  • Increased male retention time
  • Additional background screens
  • Free access to all upcoming DLCs (Season Pass)
  • Access to Early Test Server
  • Additional equipment and resources

Much of this is the same promises we received for the Edge of Darkness Edition, right down to the Season Pass.

On social media, fans have been in an uproar since the reveal. Many want to file a class-action lawsuit; others promise to uninstall the game and never play it again. Unfortunately, some can’t help but support Battlestate Games. They’re sharing GIFs of people handing over money or credit cards. It’s deplorable.

What do you think of the Unheard Edition controversy surrounding the most recent edition of Escape From Tarkov?
