By now, I’m sure you all know we love The Outlast Trials here at The Guide Hall. It’s received the most extensive coverage of any game on the site, and for good reason. It’s an exceptional survival horror game. Plus, we love in-game cosmetics. Here’s how to earn Toxic Shock Tokens in The Outlast Trials to unlock the event’s new cosmetic items!
How to Get Toxic Shock Tokens in The Outlast Trials
There is only one way to get Toxic Tokens in The Outlast Trials: participating in the Experimental Therapy Trials, which you can find by interacting with the terminal in the center of the Sleep Room. It’ll be the first tab on the Trial selection screen. Here, you’ll find a few different Trials, including:
- Cancel The Autopsy
- Gather The Children of God
- Grind The Bad Apples
- Drill The Futterman
- Vindicate The Guilty
- Feed The Children
There’s more to work through, and each one rewards you with Toxic Tokens upon completion. How many you receive, however, depends on how well you perform during the Trial.
I can tell you right now that, upon earning a “C-” score in Feed The Children, I received 5 Toxic Tokens for my valiant efforts. With the event’s key outfit, Crossing Guard, priced at 20 Toxic Tokens, if you perform on the same level as I did, you’ll unlock the new cosmetic in just four short Trials. I imagine you can do better than me, though!

What Do Toxic Shock Tokens Unlock?
Once you unlock enough Toxic Tokens and progress deep enough through the leveling system in The Outlast Trials, you’ll unlock the ability to purchase numerous unique rewards. These items, exclusive to the Toxic Shock Event, are known as Toxic Cosmetics. They include:
- Player Skins
- Outfits
- Cell Props
- Night Vision Goggles
- Player Icons
- Cell Posters
Perhaps the most enticing is the Crossing Guard outfit, which you can check out in our screenshot above. It’s quite the skin and the sole reason I’m grinding through the event at such a fast pace. Thankfully, it doesn’t take long to unlock!
