Does Norland Have a Single Player Campaign? – Answered

How do you feel about strategy games without a single-player campaign? If you’re the type that requires a storyline to follow and can’t get behind open-ended sandbox gameplay, then Norland may disappoint. I hope not, but it might. So, does Norland have a single-player campaign? Is it multiplayer?

Does Norland Have a Campaign?

Like many other strategy games, Norland does not feature a traditional single-player story mode. Instead, it takes inspiration from games such as Dwarf Fortress and RimWorld. That said, Norland is a story-generating colony sim and, as such, will feature end-game scenarios in an open sandbox experience.

That end-game focuses on an impending world catastrophe. Whether our goal is to survive or avert the disaster is unclear, but it’ll make for excellent stories and legends along the way!

Do you prefer a colony sim with a story? Does a single-player campaign even fit in with this genre? Personally, I like the open-ended nature of the story-generation sandbox games of late!

Is Norland Multiplayer?

If you were hoping to play Norland multiplayer with a mate or two, I’m sorry to be the one to burst your bubble. Norland does not feature multiplayer in any capacity. The developer feels it doesn’t work well within the genre, and to some extent, they’re correct.

However, look at popular mods for RimWorld, which offer multiplayer support. It’s messy, with multiple players controlling the same pawns and colony, but it’s viable. At the very least, it makes for an entertaining experience.

Does every game need multiplayer? No, and Norland is the perfect example!
