Fallout 76 Achieves 1 Million Players Concurrently

I genuinely never thought I would see the day when I write a headline like that one. I’ve spent the past few years talking up Fallout 76 to anyone who would listen, even before the Wastelanders update, which completely changed the game for the better. It’s a fun game, and now, Fallout 76 achieves 1 million players in a single day, according to Bethesda. It’s positively astounding!

Fallout 76 Breaks Player Records

According to Bethesda Game Studios, their hit live-service title, Fallout 76, recently achieved a staggering record of over one million players in a single day concurrently enjoying the game. On Steam, there are approximately 40,000 players at the time of writing, meaning most players are on Xbox. It makes sense, considering Fallout 76 is available on Game Pass, which you can download at no additional charge if you have a monthly subscription.

To think, it wasn’t long ago that even briefly mentioning Fallout 76 in passing meant causing a ruckus by the “true fans” of the Fallout franchise.

Of course, the entire franchise’s recent fervor is thanks to Amazon’s Fallout TV series. Since the show’s release, every single Fallout title, including the old-school, isometric CRPGs, has enjoyed significant player numbers.

It’s time for Xbox to step in and allow another studio, such as Obsidian, to give us a new Fallout game while we wait for the Fallout 5 release date!

What’s Next for Fallout 76?

Supposedly, the next major expansion coming to Fallout 76 includes the long-awaited map expansion to the south. The expansion, dubbed Skyline Valley, features additional enemies, quests, and characters to interact with.

If you’re a fan of the franchise’s long-running lore, you’ll love to hear that Skyline Valley includes Vault 63. A chance to explore a brand-new vault? We can’t pass that opportunity up!

Once the update goes live, you can find Skyline Valley in Fallout 76 south of the Savage Divide, between the Ash Heap and Cranberry Bog. It’s based on the real-world location of Shenandoah National Park.
