I’m accustomed to playing games in Early Access. It goes with the territory. But some players—perhaps you—would rather avoid an early and potentially buggy release altogether. It can ruin the overall experience and feel of the game, reducing hype. With that in mind, is Norland Early Access or full release on launch day?
Is Norland Early Access?
Yes, upon release in July, Norland will launch into Early Access. It’s unclear how long the colony sim will remain in Early Access, though a project like this typically takes a year or two to develop.
That said, Norland is quite far along. Honestly, it appears farther along than most Early Access projects, giving us hope. It may be the next big colony sim to hit the market and, hopefully, won’t flop like so many other strategy titles in the past few years.

What Does Norland Early Access Include?
The Early Access of Norland will include:
- Unique starting provinces
- Changing seasons
- Crime and justice system
- Children and social classes
- City-building mechanics for a single settlement
- Knowledge/research system
