Bellwright: How to Increase Village Trust

If you want to progress through the storyline in Bellwright, it takes more than a truckload of resources to build up a settlement and small army. You must earn the trust of the neighboring villagers, who will back your rebellion. But earning trust isn’t easy in this world. Here is how to increase village trust in Bellwright!

How to Earn Village Trust in Bellwright

To increase village trust, start by speaking to the Village Elder. He’ll usually tell you to bugger off, as he doesn’t want to risk speaking with you; otherwise, it may incur the wrath of an unseen force. But in time, as you talk to them and complete odd jobs, like setting traps or hunting wolves terrorizing the villagers, the Elder will warm up to you.

Once you become friendly with the village, additional quests will become available. You can check the quest board beside the Village Elder or wander through the town’s streets searching for any NPC with a question mark over their head. This icon indicates they have a quest for you.

You’ll note that most of these quests prove straightforward. They’re fetch quests. You’ll track down a specific number of resources, cook up some meat, or help find another NPC to speak with on behalf of the quest giver. It’s all very bland. The meat of the game is in its settlement-building system, of course.

Alternatively, as you find unique items throughout the game, like Old Coins and Wolf Fangs, you can bring them to a Village Elder. Speak with them, tell the Elder you have something special to show them, then push through the dialogue. Eventually, the game will open a vendor window with the Village Elder where you may sell unique items in exchange for Village Trust. It’s only a small amount per item, but it adds up!

What Does Village Trust Unlock?

You’ll unlock numerous rewards as you earn village trust in Bellwright and level up your standing. These rewards include the ability to recruit villagers to your settlement, additional crafting recipes, coins to purchase supplies, and occasionally skill books to help you level your skills passively.

All in all, it’s wise and, honestly, downright necessary to increase village trust in the game. It’s a core mechanic despite the path appearing long and arduous at first glance.
