While certainly not completely necessary, as much of the game revolves around becoming self-sufficient, you will require money in Bellwright for the occasional bit of trade. As always, it’s better to have some and not need it than need gold and not have any. Here is how to make money in Bellwright!
How to Make Money Fast in Bellwright
The easiest way to make money in Bellwright is to sell items you scavenge in the world or craft back at your settlement. You’ll find that River Reeds and Pelts sell for quite a bit. I recommend visiting the lake near Padstow to gather Reeds, which sell for 10 gold apiece. As for Pelts, craft a handful of traps to catch small game, then place them in and around your settlement. It’s food for you and money from the merchants!
However, keep in mind that buying and selling doesn’t work like the usual video game logic in Bellwright. You can’t sell anything you want. The merchants in the game want to buy specific items. In the screenshot above, you’ll note Ketyl wants to purchase Cooked Meat, Berry Jam, a Pitchfork, Feathers, River Reed, and a Simple Axe. You can craft the tools, cook the food, and gather the rest for quick coin.
Alternatively, tackling quests in the game will occasionally reward you with gold. They take more time to complete than simple gathering tasks in the woods, but they often pay a bit better. Plus, if you’re out exploring anyway, why not lend a helping hand to the villagers? You’ll receive the village’s trust in you that way!

Where to Find Merchants in Bellwright
You can find numerous merchants in Bellwright, most of whom settle down in various villages. For instance, you’ll discover Ketyl Simmond (shown in the screenshot above) in Haerndean. There’s also another merchant looking to purchase goods down in Padstow.
Furthermore, you may stumble upon unique merchants out in the world. They’re usually marked on the map, but you’ll note their point of interest first and foremost. For instance, just down the road from Haerndean to the path leading west, you’ll find an herbalist willing to buy and sell items you scavenge in the world.
