Bellwright: How to Set and Use Traps

Food is always the most critical resource in any survival game under the sun. Without a steady food supply, you can’t satisfy quest demands or food your community in Bellwright. Here is how to set and use traps in Bellwright to keep food and furs flowing!

How to Set and Use Traps in Bellwright

To set and use traps in Bellwright, first craft one at the Simple Workbench. Once you have one in your inventory, wander out into the dense forest, which you’ll note are the dark patches of woodland on the map, and then select the Small Trap from your inventory.

To place the trap, right-click on the item and then click to put it somewhere on the ground. You want a bit of clear space. Once it’s in place, walk up to the front gate of the trap and insert a bit of bait. For instance, you can use berries or mushrooms to entice small game to enter the trap.

It’s best to place one or two traps per dense forest space, though you can certainly go overboard and place more. I like to spread my traps out in a semi-circle around my community, in the forest plots, and then check them once or twice daily, especially in the morning after waking up.

Once you have a catch, you’ll note this glowing white-blue beam shooting up from the trap. It indicates you have caught an animal, and it’s time to collect the remains. If you catch a rabbit, you’ll receive a few pieces of small meat and a single fur pelt.

The meat will degrade over time, so check your traps occasionally throughout the day!

To craft traps in Bellwright, visit a Simple Workbench. You can manually craft one by using the middle crafting menu there. Alternatively, you can automatically assign a worker in your village to craft traps for you using the side crafting menu and queuing up a specific number of traps.

Each trap requires:

  • 5x Wood
  • 30s crafting time

A small trap can catch small game, such as rabbits, in dense forests. You’ll want to craft a few, primarily for the quest, “A Village in Need,” but also to feed your community.
