Starfield: Where to Store Resources

I hoard loot in any RPG I play, not just Bethesda’s iconic open-world adventures. In Starfield, there’s just so much to collect, from inorganic resources to weapons and boost packs. You can’t leave everything behind, right? Well, here’s where to store resources in Starfield!

Where to Stash Resources in Starfield

Regarding where to store resources in Starfield, you have options. You’ll most likely wind up stashing unwanted items, specifically crafting and construction resources, within your ship’s cargo hold. It does have limited space—deceivingly little space, considering it’s a full-size starship—so be wary of how much you store.

You can access your ship’s cargo hold by interacting with the terminal behind the pilot’s seat. It’s usually on the wall to either side and looks precisely like the terminal in the screenshot above.

Alternatively, back in your bedroom at Constellation’s Lodge, you have a storage locker in the right corner of the room. You can use it whenever you want, but you must return periodically to pick up any items you wish to use in research or crafting projects.

Lastly, you can construct storage containers at an outpost. There are multiple available, including (but not limited to):

  • Transfer Container
  • Warehouse (Small, Medium, Large)
  • Gas Storage
  • Liquid Storage
  • Solid Storage

How to Upgrade Your Storage Space

Your personal inventory will remain somewhat limited without mods, as will your ship’s cargo hold. You can upgrade the cargo hold, but it caps out at a specific point in the vanilla game. To upgrade your ship’s cargo hold, visit one of the Ship Technicians located at the landing port of significant cities and key destinations to upgrade the module or buy a new one with larger storage space available.

Alternatively, numerous mods are now available, thanks to the launch of the Starfield Creation Kit, which significantly increase the amount of storage per cargo hold. It’s well worth the trouble of downloading one, as then you can live out your space trucker dreams!

The Guide Hall genuinely can’t get enough of Starfield. With the release of the Creation Kit, the possibilities of this expansive universe feel limitless!
