Where to Get Free Mods in Starfield
While Bethesda’s Creation Club in Starfield does offer a selection of free mods, they’re extremely limited. Most mod authors don’t upload or port their game mods to Creation Club, as they’d rather use a time-tested mod service like Nexus. It’s the go-to for most video game modding, from Skyrim to Dragon Age: Origins to Starfield.
As the Starfield Creation Kit only launched recently, it’s safe to say there aren’t many high-quality mods available for the game yet. They’re coming, though. Before long, we’ll have an overwhelming number of anime characters, body modification tools, tactical weapons, and movie-based spacesuits.

How to Mod Starfield With Vortex
The first step in successfully modding Starfield is to download Vortex. It’s one of the most common mod managers available on PC, though it’s not everyone’s favorite due to certain limitations with load orders. But if you’re new to modding, it’ll suffice until you gain more experience.
Once you download and install Vortex, open the program and allow it to scan your drives for installed games. If you have Starfield installed, it should find it no problem. Then, in the left menu, you’ll see “Games.” Click this tab, search for Starfield, and select “Manage.” It will automatically make Starfield your go-to title in the mod manager, and then you can return to Nexus to start downloading mods. With Vortex open, any mod you download from Nexus will automatically download and install via Vortex.
