8 Games You Can Spend 100 Hours In

Despite having very little free time overall, I adore any game that allows me to explore its world and characters for more than 100 hours. I may never see all of the included content, but you can bet I’ll try. You can spend 100 hours or more in these eight games and still find something fun to do!

Games You Can Play For 100+ Hours

As the super cool gamers we all are, we want our money’s worth, right? If we spend upwards of $69.99 on a product, we want to know that we’ll get an adequate amount of time out of said game. For many, it’s $1 per hour. These eight games offer triple-digit playtime, sometimes in a single playthrough, for those who love the genre and style.

Elden Ring

Whether you’re brand-new to the FromSoft formula or an old hand at their tough-as-nails action-RPG gameplay, Elden Ring offers a unique landscape to explore, and enticing character builds, and challenging bosses.

It’s an expansive open world, with room to play how you want, be it as a nude warrior facing off against the greatest threats The Lands Between offers or grinding in the same zone until you’re level 45 before tackling the first boss; the choice is yours.

If you take your time, a single playthrough can last upwards of 130 hours!

Stardew Valley

With the hustle and bustle of AAA gaming constantly pushing live-service releases down our throats, sometimes it’s nice to unwind with an indie classic all about farming and living off the land in an idyllic town. Stardew Valley is one of the most enticing and relaxing video games I’ve played.

You can specialize in your playthrough, focusing on crops, wine, beer, or farm animals. There’s enough variety in the number of crops and creatures, along with the handful of bachelors and bachelorettes, that each playthrough feels unique.

If you’re a completionist, expect to spend upwards of 160 hours on a single farm!

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

You can hate me all you want, but of all of the 100-hour games on this list, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is the only entry I have yet to complete. It’s daunting. There’s so much story and character to explore that each time I try to finish a playthrough, I find myself torn in numerous directions. Ultimately, I play something else.

But where I fail, you may succeed. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is well known for its beautifully detailed game world, memorable characters, and many monsters inhabiting the land. That, and the side quests.

A full playthrough, tackling story and side content, will take approximately 175 hours.

Fallout 4

Bethesda Game Studios, and more specifically, Fallout 4, have plenty of detractors. Many within the gaming community want you to skip these titles because they aren’t “true” RPGs. Well, guess what? Fallout 4 is a ton of fun, and I will unapologetically continue playing it until Fallout 5 is released!

With nearly 1,000 hours invested in The Commonwealth, I still return to the game every other month to dump tens of hours into a playthrough. It’s a popcorn game but an extraordinarily immersive and interesting one. Every building tells a story, as do the many survivors left behind after the war, and the mods people create help breathe new life into the experience every playthrough.

A full playthrough, with all story missions, side quests, unique items, and points of interest, will take approximately 160 hours.

Red Dead Redemption 2

Have you ever experienced a story that stuck with you well past its conclusion? You know that gut-wrenching, sinking feeling now that the tale is done and over with, like you’re unsure of what to do with yourself? That’s how I, and many others, felt when finishing Red Dead Redemption 2. The culmination of nearly 100 hours of gameplay in a single playthrough, with characters I had grown attached to, hit like a freight train.

But I challenge you to find a more immersive game world than Red Dead Redemption 2. It’s so lifelike, with citizens going about their business, horses to care for, and trains to rob at night. You can genuinely live another life in another world in the Old West.

If you take your time and do everything the game has to offer, expect to play RDR2 for approximately 180 hours!

Forza Horizon 5

The people who love racing games really love them. It’s nothing to spend months or longer in a single racing game, collecting every vehicle and hitting each stunt jump spread across its massive open world. Forza Horizon 5 is the king of such gameplay, allowing for both single and multiplayer open-ended possibilities.

With over 760 unique vehicles to unlock and drive, there’s something new to ride around every day for over two years. Of course, you’ll have a favorite you take online to challenge racers from across the globe.

If you want to tackle all story set pieces and side missions and obtain every collectible, you can spend nearly 120 hours in Forza Horizon 5!

Days Gone

I wasn’t initially sold on Days Gone, especially considering it was a PlayStation-exclusive title. At the time, I only played on PC. But then it launched on Steam and eventually dropped in price to around $19.99 during one sale. I couldn’t help myself. Oh, man. I beat myself up for a long time because this is an absolute blast of a game. I cannot believe I waited so long to play.

My first playthrough took approximately 72 hours, and I didn’t see or do everything the game offered. Immediately upon finishing the story, I booted up New Game Plus and dove headfirst into a second playthrough.

With the unique horde mechanic, the customizable motorcycle, plenty of weapons and gadgets to unlock, and unique locations to explore, Days Gone offers plenty for those who want to lose themselves in an open world and for completionists alike!

Mass Effect: Legendary Edition

I fondly remember the original release of Mass Effect in 2007. I was still in high school, losing myself night after night in the latest RPGs to hit the market. For the longest time, it was Oblivion. Then, along came Mass Effect. While I adore fantasy, I love science fiction more.

But if you look back at the original trilogy, it is incredibly dated. The Mass Effect Legendary Edition rectifies this by remastering and optimizing all three games and every piece of DLC in a beautiful package. Now, an entirely new generation can meet Commander Shepherd, Garrus, and Tali. We can re-explore planets that defined so many sleepless nights.

And the best part is the entire trilogy will take you approximately 110 hours to complete!
