When is the Factorio Space Age Release Date? – Answered

Factorio is one of those automation games that you either fall deeply in love with and lose thousands of hours of your life playing, or you drop off quickly and move on to the next game. For me, it was the former. And, like many of you, I’ve had my sights set on the upcoming expansion with absolute glee. So, when is the Factorio Space Age release date? Here’s what you should know!

When Does Factorio Space Age Release?

Following a recent announcement from developer Wube Software, we finally know the official release date of Factorio Space Age. The expansion will launch on Steam on October 21, 2024.

Initially, it appears the DLC was supposed to launch sooner, but the studio decided to push it back to October to allow for additional polish before the release date. Then, they want enough time before the holidays for bug fixes and optimization patches. It’s a smart move but also an incredibly busy time of the year. But Factorio fans prove to be some of the most dedicated!

How Much Does Factorio Space Age Cost?

In the same announcement, the studio unveiled the official price of Factorio Space Age. It will set you back $35.00, which is the exact same price as the base game. This one is a bit of a head-scratcher, honestly. There’s no one doing automation quite like Wube, but to charge the exact same price for the expansion as your base game feels strange.

I don’t doubt that many players—myself included—will scoop up the DLC on day one and spend hundreds or thousands of hours on the new content. But the pricing will likely scare away newcomers from trying the content out on a whim.
