Is Kingdom Hearts 1.5 the First Game? – Answered

As someone who didn’t have the chance to play the original Kingdom Hearts, I’m now jumping in with the ReMix trilogy on Steam. But, like many others, I have a question about the overall order. You see, the bundles prove somewhat confusing. So, is Kingdom Hearts 1.5 the first game?

Should You Play Kingdom Hearts 1.5 First?

Despite the odd name scheming, there isn’t actually a Kingdom Hearts 1.5. It’s just Kingdom Hearts, but this is the HD remake package, and it includes a handful of games and content from between Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts II.

For example, Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX includes:

  • Kingdom Hearts Final Mix
  • Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories
  • Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days
  • Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix
  • Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final Mix
  • Kingdom Hearts Re: coded

So, essentially, Kingdom Hearts 1.5 is just the original Kingdom Hearts in HD. As such, you should play it first before diving into Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 The Final Chapter and Kingdom Hearts III & Re Mind DLC.

What is the Kingdom Hearts Order?

With the recent Steam release of Kingdom Hearts Integrum Masterpiece, which features a bundle containing all of the HD remakes of the long-running franchise, it’s somewhat confusing as to which order you should play. Here’s how it goes:

  • Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX
  • Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue
  • Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind

If you don’t mind buying games on the Epic Games Store, you can also pick up Kingdom Hearts Melody of Memory, which you’ll want to play fourth.

The Guide Hall can’t wait to dive into the magical world of Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX. It’s quite the name, but we’re down to explore every game in the franchise at some point!
