Hideo Kojima Posts P.T. Tease on Social Media

If you follow the games industry, you know of Hideo Kojima. He’s often considered one of the most visionary game designers, with titles such as Death Stranding, the upcoming OD, and the seemingly canceled P.T. under his belt. He’s also among the most active social media users I’ve ever encountered. Recently, on various social media platforms, Kojima posted a P.T. tease in the form of songs from the game and a press image, all within the past 24 hours. It’s strange and out of the blue, but does it mean anything?

Over on Threads, Kojima published a P.T. press shot featuring Norman Reedus’ characters from the game. It’s a simple shot, with Norman’s character holding up a flashlight and looking off into the distance, with the town at his back. It doesn’t reveal anything new, of course. It’s a single image with no description from Kojima.

Of course, the comments went wild. Everyone wants to know, “What does this mean?” Honestly, we’re not entirely sure yet, either. It could be nothing more than building up hype for his upcoming horror game, OD. Or, it could mean he’s secured the opportunity to finish the game. It would make sense, following the immense hype for Silent Hill 2 later this year.

What is P.T.?

P.T., an acronym that means “playable teaser,” was an upcoming psychological horror game from Kojima Productions. It launched in August 2014, exclusively on PlayStation 4, and was abruptly removed from the store. Anyone who kept the download on the system could continue playing through the short teaser, and these systems wound up selling for a lot of money on eBay.

P.T. was said to be Silent Hills, a new installment in the long-running survival horror franchise, albeit with a first-person perspective instead of the usual third-person camera. It was to achieve a more frightening setting, with puzzle-solving and creatures to avoid.

With these recent social media teases, could we see a P.T. release date in the near future?

The Guide Hall didn’t have a chance to play P.T. tease in the past, but perhaps a full-fledged horror title from Kojima Productions is on the horizon for us?!
