Cult of the Lamb: How to Get Squid

As you progress through the relatively short main storyline of Cult of the Lamb, you will inevitably unlock various mechanics and mini-games, such as cooking and fishing. It’s the latter that provides fantastic resources. You can unlock additional follower forms, feed your cult, and complete side quests. Here is how to get squid in Cult of the Lamb!

Where to Find Squid in Cult of the Lamb

One of the earliest characters you’ll meet during your Crusades in Cult of the Lamb is The Fisherman. There’s something odd about his appearance, but he’s rather coy about his past. In any case, he’ll provide you with a side quest, The Beats Below the Waves, in which you must catch numerous sea creatures, including Lobster and Squid. The Lobster, somehow, proves easy enough. But the Squid. Well, that’s another story altogether.

To catch a squid, you must take part in the fishing mini-game beside the pier at Pilgrim’s Passage. You’ll note the shadowy beings floating under the surface just off the shore, and you can cast your line in their direction. The mini-game itself is similar to the one in Stardew Valley, but more on that later.

Your best bet is to continue fishing. I don’t know if it’s just luck, but I tend to catch at least one squid for each pack of sea creatures in the water. But if you’re not having any luck with the reel, you can collect Stone Tablets to achieve Level 3 in your Sustenance Doctrine Tree. Then, you’ll unlock the Ritual of the Ocean’s Bounty. It will double the amount of fish you catch while increasing the spawns for rare fish. The only downside is that this ritual will cost you 75 Bones.

Alternatively, there is a Tarot Card, Neptune’s Curse, that forces enemies to drop fish occasionally. You can unlock it by catching a single fish for The Fisherman.

How to Fish in Cult of the Lamb

To fish in Cult of the Lamb, like in Stardew Valley, you must cast your line into the water at Pilgrim’s Passage. Unlike the indie farming game, Cult of the Lamb only allows fishing in this singular spot in the game.

With your line cast, wait for a bite. Once a fish takes the bait, they’ll automatically hook, and you’ll notice the additional mini-game pop-up in which you must keep the fish within the green bar by tapping the interact key. On the controller (highly recommended), tap A.

It took me a few tries, as it did in the farming game I keep mentioning repeatedly, but you’ll get the hang of the mini-game in no time!
