Whether you’re out to explore the Settled Systems or tackling a side quest that’s tasking you with visiting a minor colony in the Freestar Collective, tracking down HopeTown in Starfield can feel confusing. After all, it’s a giant galaxy. Here is where you can find HopeTown and what you’ll find there!
Where is HopeTown in Starfield?
To find HopeTown in Starfield, fly to the Valo Star System, west of Cheyenne and north of Alpha Centauri. It’s the second star of the Narion Star System. Once you fly to Valo, you’re after Polvo, the first planet of Valo.
HopeTown is the only key location on Polvo, so don’t expect to stumble upon a secondary settlement or point of interest that isn’t procedurally generated.
HopeTown isn’t much of a settlement, and it’s certainly not a city. The colony came to fruition following the success of HopeTech, the starship manufacturer run by Ron Hope, as a factory and housing for its countless workers. As such, you won’t find much to discover in the immediate area besides a handful of quests, a few unique ship parts, and some intrigue.
Locations in HopeTown
Upon landing in HopeTown, you may immediately notice the HopeTech facility looming over much of the landscape. It’s the dominant structure and a central point for much of the industrial “town,” if you can call it as such. But just outside its main entrance, you’ll find a few shops, a Freestar Ranger outpost, and a bar to drown your sorrows.

- HopeTech
- The Pit Stop
I like to stick to the Freestar Rangers Office when I’m in full RP mode, as it’s the least shady venue on the planet.

Key Characters in HopeTown
You’ll meet a handful of interesting characters, some vital to side and faction quests. The cast you’ll interact with in HopeTown includes:
- Ron Hope
- Bennu St. James
- Birgit McDougall
- Cosette
- Elana Nwankwo
- Inaya Rehman
- Maxwell Evans
You’ll meet Ron Hope as part of the Freestar Rangers faction questline. He’s the founder and president of HopeTech and a key member of the Council of Governors.
Quests in HopeTown
A few notable quests, specifically within the Freestar Rangers, will bring you to HopeTown in Starfield. However, if you’re actively seeking work, don’t expect much. I could only find a small handful of side quests to tackle, including:
- The Akila Run
- Captain’s Bounty
- Drydock Blues: HopeTech
I’m particularly a fan of The Akila Run, though it’s challenging if you haven’t upgraded your ship’s cargo hold yet!
