I’m a massive fan of DayZ overall. I don’t have the time like I used to, but I fondly remember staying awake until two or three each morning for NWAF runs with my buddy. They’re some of my fondest gaming memories. I’ll occasionally hop on to relive the experience, and I’m hopeful this news draws me deeper into the fold once more. It’s finally time for Bohemia Interactive to unveil the next DayZ expansion with Frostline!
The upcoming expansion has no official release date or price tag and features seemingly more content than Livonia upon release. It includes:
- Sakhal — A sprawling winter-themed map with 83km² to explore.
- Winter, volcanic hazards, and zombies and humans to survive against.
- New gameplay mechanics — unique diseases, additional fishing and survival mechanics.
- Winter Cosmetics — Winter-themed cosmetics, including clothing.
From the provided screenshots, it appears as if Frostline sits in perpetual winter, with snow covering the landscape, ice-covered mountaintops and lakes, and unique animals that thrive in the cold, like elk, to hunt and consume.
Well, what do fans of the game think? From what I’ve witnessed online, it appears mixed. Some can’t wait to get their hands on the expansion, to finally explore a frozen wasteland with zombies. Others, however, can’t believe Bohemia Interactive would waste their time with yet another expansion that may quickly become forgotten. How many servers run Livonia?
