It’s not every day that we see an indie game about a certain beloved yellow bear, especially when that game involves a mutating virus corrupting said bear from within. That’s the overarching premise of Winnie’s Hole—a dark roguelite in which you capture cells and mutate the virus within the iconic bear’s body and mind. Oh yeah, and there’s a story in here to follow along with if the visuals aren’t enough!
What is Winnie’s Hole?
According to the game’s Steam page:
oin Winnie on a new adventure, from within! Play as a virus in his body and mind. Capture cells to mutate and build a deck of actions to unleash in combo-driven combat. A genre-blending roguelite with a dark yet charming story. Embrace discomfort – Sometimes we can’t help being seen as a monster…
Your role? You play as an ever-changing virus within Winnie’s body. As you capture cells in a puzzle-like environment, you will grow additional mutations and alter Winnie’s actions and abilities to participate in the game’s dynamic battle system. Every run features unique perks, mutations, and virus strains, allowing you to pick up and play the game at your leisure or run multiple runs back-to-back to keep the body horror fun moving swiftly towards destruction.
As you play, you’ll explore the horror-dark science world, uncover a storybook-like narrative, and build your deck of combo-driven abilities that allow you to overcome Winnie as a host.
