Well, it’s finally coming out of beta and launching to everyone on January 23!

What is Adventure Mode in Dwarf Fortress?
Unlike the Fortress Mode in Dwarf Fortress, which revolves around building and managing an ever-growing colony of dwarves and other sentient races from across the land, Adventure Mode allows you to take control of a single character or, in some cases, a party of playable races from the game world. While controlling this hero, you will traverse a randomly generated landscape, encountering bands of roving goblins, caverns, shrines, and entire towns and fortresses to explore and interact with. NPCs offer quests, items to loot and uncover, and stories that will unfold as you adventure. It’s like a Dungeons & Dragons adventure on a grand scale.
In layman’s terms, Adventure Mode in Dwarf Fortress is far more randomized. It is a roguelike adventure that allows greater exploration and stories.
