If you’ve spent time exploring the underground research facility in Abiotic Factor, then you know the game requires a few tweaks here and there. More specifically, surviving alone proves rather challenging. Thankfully, there’s much to unpack in Abiotic Factor Community Update 1, including difficulty changes, new items, and more!
Everything New in Community Update 1 for Abiotic Factor
We’ll provide a condensed version of the major update because it’s pretty sizable. If you want to read the full patch notes, that’s up to you. Here’s everything new in Abiotic Factor Community Update 1:
- Dynamic Difficulty: You’ll now enjoy dynamic difficulty scaling while playing the game solo or cooperatively with a single partner. More specifically, the entities you’ll encounter react uniquely when interacting with a single scientist compared to a small group.
- Repair & Salvage: A few quality-of-life tweaks are now present regarding the repair and salvage mechanics. You don’t have to continuously click “Repair” or “Scrap” for every item in a row. Furthermore, the buttons are much more apparent.
- Base Naming: You’ve spent so much time constructing your first base that it deserves a name! You can now name your base to find your way back home via waypoints easily.
- Paintable Walls: Yeah, you can finally customize your base and surrounding area by painting the walls and storage in unique colors. A large variety of shades are available, including purple, teal, green, blue, yellow, pink, orange, and more.
- Bionic Legs: We all deserve bionic legs! You can now equip Bionic Legs as Leg Armor, which allows you to run farther, jump higher, and fall without taking so much damage.
- Overworld Guns: While extremely rare, the occasional Overworld Gun, like the Submachine Gun, should make dealing with entities a breeze. Please don’t get too used to their power, though. It’s fleeting!
Of course, that’s not a comprehensive list of changes to Abiotic Factor, but merely the most exciting in our eyes!

How Big is the Abiotic Factor Update?
Overall, the new Abiotic Factor update weighs approximately 250 MB. It’s relatively small, considering the numerous tweaks, fixes, and content additions we’ll receive.
However, that’s to be expected, as the full game download isn’t much larger. You can likely download both in mere minutes!
