What’s Coming in HumanitZ 1.0?

There are a handful of top-down zombie survival titles dominating the market right now, but it’s a small indie team that continues to impress us. HumanitZ features a wide-open world, the constant threat of Zeeks, armored vehicles, base building, and more, and it’s packaged up quite neatly. But development is coming to its final point. Here’s what’s coming to HumanitZ 1.0, along with when we’ll see the full release hit Steam!

New Features in HumanitZ 1.0

Of course, this being the major milestone in HumanitZ’s ongoing development, we expect plenty of new features, mechanics, lore, etc. So far, thanks to the broad array of Zeek Feeds released over the past few months leading up to this point, we know some of the key features coming to 1.0 include:

  • New drivable HMMWV (a long-requested community feature)
  • Major performance optimizations, especially for hosted/server play
  • New Character creation and customization
  • Expanded Skills & Professions systems with multi-classing
  • New training quests to onboard players, skipping the reworked tutorial
  • Improved Zeek and enemy AI
  • Optional affliction systems for deeper survival gameplay

On top of all of this, the studio revealed that the long-awaited island biome we’ve all been excitedly waiting for is also on the way. However, they’re not yet ready to discuss the island in more detail. We’ll have to remain patient!

When is HumanitZ Fully Releasing?

While there’s no official release date as of yet, we know HumanitZ will fully release in Q1 2026. That means sometime between January and March.

Initially, HumanitZ was meant to launch in 2025. But following development milestones taking longer than planned, scope expanding, and mishaps along the way, plus a desire for better polish and quality-of-life improvements, the team wants to wait and push the 1.0 launch to early next year. We get it, and we’re still excited!
