What is The Forever Winter?

There are several upcoming projects I’m beyond hyped to see more of in the coming months, including The Forever Winter, Beautiful Light, and Ill. For now, let’s focus on the former. What is The Forever Winter? Here’s a complete rundown!

All About The Forever Winter

The Forever War is an upcoming co-op tactical survival horror shooter from developer Fun Dog Studios. So far as I can tell, this is the team’s first game together. However, the team comprises industry veterans with countless shipped titles under their belts.

But more on The Forever Winter! The gameplay borrows heavily from the looter-shooter genre, with a bit of roguelite mechanics thrown in for good measure, and you’ll find success in working as a squad. In every instance, you and your teammates will enter the battlefield, where you’re a third-party scavenger amidst an ongoing war between two opposing factions and attempt to collect resources and loot.

While in the field, you’ll accumulate weapons and supplies, including firearms and backpacks, that you may customize and upgrade at your base. Your efforts will make the next run somewhat easier.

One of the game’s most exciting features is its dynamic encounter system. As mentioned above, you’re a third party in this ongoing conflict. You’re not a soldier fighting for either side, but instead, a scavenger hoping to survive the wasteland. When you enter the battlefield, you’ll step into utter chaos.

There’s gunfire, missiles, explosions, everything a futuristic war may entail, and it’s on your doorstep. But you’re skirting around these gunfights and artillery strikes to scour the land for loot and supplies. You’re a rat, essentially. But if you’re caught in the wrong place at the wrong time, you must defend yourself or die trying.
