When you think about Ghost of Tsushima, it’s likely as a single-player adventure. But despite its focus on the story, the game features multiplayer components—namely, a cooperative game mode in Legends. But what is Ghost of Tsushima multiplayer like?
How is the Ghost of Tsushima Multiplayer Mode?
Regarding the multiplayer side of Ghost of Tsushima, you have options. If you’re more inclined to play cooperatively, you can tackle the game’s story missions with a partner; plus, there are multiple cooperative game modes and a PvP mode if you’re into that sort of thing.
Survival
In Survival, you and up to four players must defend key points on the map as progressively more difficult hordes of enemies assault your position. It’s not a singular point defense task, unfortunately. They’ll attack multiple points simultaneously, meaning you must work with your co-op partners to survive each wave and coordinate defenses.
Raid (The Tale of Iyo)
Raid, or The Tale of Iyo, is a four-player cooperative game mode launched as part of the Legends co-op multiplayer mode. It features a three-part raid in which you’ll fight hordes of Mongols and the Oni. It requires four players, and you must complete The Fire Spirits of Yarikawa beforehand!
Rivals
Lastly, you have Rivals—aPvEvP game mode in which you and a single partner face off against another duo in an expansive zone full of Mongols and demonic forces. Your goal is to navigate the map while pushing back the hordes of enemies, eventually encountering the other team of players.

How Many Players Can Play Ghost of Tsushima?
Across all game modes in Ghost of Tsushima, the maximum number of allowed players is just four. Many of the multiplayer modes allow for two players to play cooperatively. But the Rivals PvEvP game mode allows for four players, as does some co-op content, like The Tale of Iyo.
For the most part, you’ll work together with a partner to tackle the game’s story missions, wave-based modes, and the occasional bit of PvP!
