The world of Deep Rock Galactic, which stems from humble four-player cooperative beginnings, is expanding exponentially within the following year. First, we have Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor, a top-down auto-shooter roguelike in the same style as Vampire Survivor or Brotato. And down the line, with a release date yet to come, Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core. So, what is Rogue Core?
The Ins and Outs of Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core
Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core, known simply as Rogue Core moving forward, is a four-player cooperative roguelike first-person shooter with fully destructible environments and procedurally-generated levels. If that sounds precisely like the concept for the original Deep Rock Galactic, you’re not wrong.
This most significant distinction between the two, however, is that you’re not playing a Dwarven miner this time around, but instead of on the Reclaimers. They’re similar to an intergalactic security force for the company, retaking control over mining operations lost to the bug menace on Hoxxes IV.
You and your party will tackle bugs, reignite the Core, and power up various abilities and pieces of equipment each run to craft incredible builds that help you quickly move through the tunnels of this foreign planet. You’ll choose a Reclaimer weapon, salvage equipment caches, and deposit Expenite, a new resource, into your Processor Drone for temporary upgrades to your character and build.

Every stage in the game is unique, with no level too similar, like in the original Deep Rock Galactic. You’ll find similar biomes and flora, but the level design changes with each mission to the planet’s surface.
When is the Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core Release Date?

As of this writing, we don’t know an official release date for Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core. According to the game’s Steam Page, the title is still set as “to be announced,” with the game’s roadmap indicating an Early Access release in November of 2024.
That’s still the majority of the year to wait, but it appears that development is moving along steadily. The team at Ghost Ship Games is currently working on Update 4 – Theming and Visual Identity, which includes character designs, gameplay mechanics, UI/HUD refinements, alongside a handful of unique enemies.
That said, they do plan a Closed Alpha in Q1, which is quickly coming to an end.
The Guide Hall spent a lot of time exploring the depths of Hoxxes in Deep Rock Galactic, and we intend to do the same in Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core. Join us in this exciting new roguelike as we delve in as a Reclaimer for a handful of guides this year!
