There are so many upcoming games that it’s often hard to keep track of every project on the horizon. But a few may interest you if you’re a fan of the open-world survival crafting genre, which dominates Early Access on Steam. For instance, Dawn of Defiance by developer Traega Entertainment. It’s an upcoming Greek mythology-inspired crafting game with serious potential. But what is it?
Everything We Know About Dawn of Defiance
Dawn of Defiance is an open-world survival crafting game with building elements melded with Greek mythology. You, as a fallen soldier, awaken alone on the coast. As you move deeper inland, you’ll uncover power, crafting recipes and new ways to survive the harsh, unforgiving world as it sends numerous threats your way.
The world itself appears to be the highlight of the experience. There are ruins to explore, wilds to hunt within, dark caves to delve into, and treasure to find via mythic landmarks dotting the landscape. As you explore, you’ll uncover new weapon and armor designs to craft, along with recipes and upgrades to further empower your character’s abilities.
But you won’t survive long without a haven. You can build a home for yourself using gathered resources from within the game world, then set out on a new adventure in the morning after a rest.
Lastly, Dawn of Defiance features full cooperative multiplayer for up to four players. In co-op, you can split up tasks, gather resources together, and share objective rewards throughout the party so no one is left out of the score. It’s the right way to do co-op!

When Can You Play Dawn of Defiance?
Dawn of Defiance launches into Steam Early Access on August 15. Like most other titles, it will be released with a launch day discount, bringing the total down from $19.99 with a 25% discount.
As is typical with such projects, the price will increase as new content is slowly drip-fed to the Early Access supporters, so if you’re even remotely interested in the game, now’s a good time to pick up a copy!
Where Can You Play Dawn of Defiance?
The only places to purchase and play Dawn of Defiance are Steam and Epic Games Store. There’s no official word on whether the game is coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. As an indie project, I find it unlikely that Dawn of Defiance on PS5 or Xbox Series X|S becomes a thing.
