As a long-time fan of the extraction shooter genre, I try to remain up-to-date about upcoming projects. There’s a lot, as it’s become one of the most rapidly expanding video game genres. A handful of upcoming titles caught my attention, but one stands out. What is Beautiful Light?
Everything We Know About Beautiful Light
Beautiful Light, by developer Deep Worlds, is an upcoming first-person PvPvPvE extraction shooter in which six squads of three enter a zone, secure an artifact, and extract. But they’re not alone. Along with dealing with five other squads of mercenaries, there are entities within the environment that actively hunt down humans, along with anomalies.
To ensure you complete your objective, Beautiful Light enables you to gear up with formidable weaponry, armor, and gadgets to complete the job. Hunting down and extracting an artifact seems manageable with a selection of customizable modern military firearms.
However, knowing the modern gaming community, there will be many hiccups. I suspect I’ll likely die multiple times over trying to extract my first artifact, but that’s okay; I’m here for the full ride!
As is expected within the extraction shooter genre, Beautiful Light features a significant quest arc, a leveling system with skills, and merchants to help you obtain the necessary equipment before each incursion. It’s the horror that sets the game apart!

When Can You Play Beautiful Light?
Unfortunately, we don’t know when you can play Beautiful Light. We’ve spent many months watching the game’s development progress, but the team isn’t quite ready to let too many people play. They’ve allowed a handful of content creators access in the past, but a more widespread playtest is yet to be announced.
Here’s hoping it’s soon, though. I can’t wait to get my hands on one of my most anticipated games of the year!
