Warhammer 3 Shadows of Change DLC Expands With New Content

In an announcement made this morning via their official blog, developer Creative Assembly revealed they’re expanding the content of their most recent DLC, Shadows of Change, for Total War: Warhammer 3. As a DLC with an exorbitant price tag of $24.99, nearly half the cost of the base game, folks were less than enthusiastic about the lackluster content offering upon release. But now, it’ll get bigger!

Additional Content Coming to Shadows of Change

The community begged for additional content in Shadows of Change to make the DLC pack worthwhile, and it appears the higher-ups at Creative Assembly genuinely listened for once. Following a spattering of negative reviews across the entire franchise, one of the only ways players could display their disdain, the studio listened!

Here’s the new content coming to Total War: Warhammer 3’s Shadows of Change DLC:

  • 3 Legendary Lords
    • Playable in Realms of Chaos and Immortal Empires
  • 3 Legendary Heroes
    • One per race
  • 3 Lords
    • One per race
  • 3 Heroes
    • One per race
  • 5 New Units Per Race
  • 3 Regiments of Renown Per Race
  • 1 FREELC Character
  • Additional Spell Lore
  • New Mounts
  • Unique gameplay mechanics for each Legendary Lord

It’s a lot to unpack and available to anyone who purchased the Shadows of Change DLC.

Cathay’s Saytang the Watcher, Sentinel of the Heavens

Perhaps the most exciting unit coming in the update is Saytang the Watcher. He’s the first colossal Legendary Heroes for Grand Cathay, and possibly one of the most remarkable heroes we’ll receive in the game to date.

Known as the guardian of the sky, the heavenly bowman, or commonly to the people of the southern provinces simply the watcher, Saytang is the great sentinel that stands atop the Mountains of Heaven. Towering over other sentinels, Saytang is an imposing sight with its outstretched wings and great stone feathered helm. Those who have witnessed Saytang in battle claim no armour or barrier can turn aside the arrows it fires from its great wind bow, the shafts piercing the ranks of the enemies and even the iron hides of fell beasts. And though Saytang cannot fly in the true sense, its power allows it to leap great distances, even jumping from mountain peak to mountain peak in the defence of the empire.

Games Workshop

As Saytang is a Colossal Legendary Hero and a Construct, the studio is shifting the Terracotta Sentinel and Guardian Lions to Constructs, similar to those in the Tomb Kings’ roster.

But as a unit, Saytang features extensive armor, is equipped with a Wind Bow for long-range attacks, and can sweep through small enemy groups with little to no effort. He’ll be a fun one to play around with!
