When you hear the term special infected or special zombies, you likely imagine the array of overpowered zombie creatures from Left 4 Dead, right? You picture the Tank and Witch and Spitter. But that’s not Vein’s style. So, will Vein feature special zombies of any kind? Here’s your answer, survivors!
Will Vein Have Special Infected?
No. Developer Ramjet Studios intends to keep Vein firmly rooted in old-school zombie media, so think original Romero. Here, it’s the zombies that prove most threatening. It’s their numbers, the insatiable hunger, and relentless pursuit.
As such, you won’t find a bloated zombie spewing acidic bile, or a hunter leaping through the air to pounce on survivors; those types of special infected have no place in Vein.
The only “special” type of zombie you may encounter will be an undead wearing some type of body armor or unique clothing, such as a first responder who was turned in the line of duty. They won’t be any more powerful than the zombie beside them, though. A shot to the head will suffice.

Will Zombies Evolve in Vein?
Again, no. The zombies in Vein will remain their slow, lumbering selves throughout your entire playthrough. They won’t become smarter, they won’t form a hive mind, and they won’t develop special powers the longer you play.
