How to Unlock Program X in The Outlast Trials
To unlock Program X, you must finish all other Trials, including those found at the Police Station/Jail, Fun Park, and Orphanage. Each stomping ground features five Trials, or challenges, some of which are MK-Challenges, which are bit-size Trials offering unique circumstances to mix things up.
Once you finish tackling the previous Trials, you’ll gain access to Program X. On average, it will take two or three hours if you’re playing with a group but a bit longer if you play the game solo.
It’s essential to open and beat Program X, as that’s how you receive Release Tokens. Every Trial is worth one Release Token; you require ten to access the finale. Then, you may become Reborn!

Tips for Beating Program X in The Outlast Trials
- I do not recommend playing Program X solo, though it is entirely doable; it’s easier and more manageable overall to play with a competent group. Heck, even a random group via the group finder will suffice, as you’ll have someone watching your back and taking some of the aggro off you.
- If you do play with a group, turn on your microphone. A silent teammate can still get the job done, but effective communication makes a huge difference in beating these Trials!
- You definitely want to make use of your Rigs, as item spawns will be disabled for the duration of Program X. You will spawn with a single medicine, antidote, and battery to give you a headstart, though.
