You’re not alone in this dangerous world. Upon spawning into your first game of SurrounDead, you’ll note a few zombies lurking on the road ahead. They’re not overly threatening, but they’re just the beginning. Here’s an overview of all the SurrounDead zombie types, along with how to beat each one!
All Zombie Types in SurrounDead
For being a small indie game, there are plenty of zombie types in SurrounDead to keep you checking your six as you wander the world in search of loot. In total, there are ~15 zombie types, with more likely to be added as Early Access progresses.
- Undead Crawler
- How to Beat: Don’t waste a bullet. Crouch down and swipe with a melee weapon.
- Toughened Undead Crawler
- How to Beat: If you have spare ammunition, use a bullet to put down the tougher variant of the crawler.
- Undead Shambler
- How to Beat: One of the weakest enemies in the game, the Shambler falls to a few well-placed melee hits. Aim for the head!
- Deadly Undead Shambler
- How to Beat: Often wields a weapon, but doesn’t deal much, if any, more damage than a regular Shambler. Use a melee weapon, aim for the head.
- Undead Sprinter
- How to Beat: Fast, furious, and dead. You can stun-lock them with a melee weapon and, as per usual, aim for the head. Alternatively, use a firearm and aim for the head.
- Radiated Undead
- How to Beat: Avoid this little shit! When attacking, they’ll inflict radiation poisoning, leading to a double-whammy. Take them down from a distance with a firearm.
- Ultra Radiated Undead
- How to Beat: The above recommendation stands; avoid this one like the plague. Do not let them approach, as they release a radiation-filled cloud. Shoot from a distance, and wear a mask with a filter.
- Infected Undead
- How to Beat: Watch for the glowing red eyes, and always shoot from a distance. They’re tougher, thanks to the radiation suit, but the loot they drop tends to make up for the challenge.
- Acidic Infected Undead
- How to Beat: Note the red gaseous substance leaking from this particular corpse, and avoid it altogether. When they die, they explode in a red, damaging cloud. Shoot from a distance, aim for the head.
- Dead Infected Zombie
- How to Beat: After you clear an infestation on the map, these zeds appear and, like the previous enemy, it’s best to avoid them and attack from a distance.
- Feral Hound
- How to Beat: If you have one, use an explosive like a Frag Grenade. If not, shoot from a distance. These punks travel in groups, so a shotgun’s spread may help you survive the encounter.
- Armored Feral Hound
- How to Beat: Definitely lob a grenade.
- Undead Boss
- How to Beat: To take down an Undead Boss, I recommend you climb up high, like on the top of a fire truck or ambulance, or hell, even a tall building nearby. Then, from above, shoot down and aim for the head until the boss drops.
- Large Undead Boss
- How to Beat: Bring a bigger gun.
