Beginner Tips & Common Mistakes
- Prioritize beds early. You can only recruit so many survivors before expanding your sleeping quarters becomes necessary. You don’t want survivors without a bed to relax, because that leads to morale concerns.
- Always loot quietly. There’s no reason to rush in State of Decay 2, so loot quietly. If you choose to loot fast, you risk making more noise and alerting nearby zombies.
- Use your radio wisely. Your radio provides a variety of free services, most of which have extensive cooldowns. Use them regularly, but wisely.
- Don’t let Plague Hearts fester. Plague Hearts can prove problematic for your community by increasing the amount of Plague Zombies in the area and putting your community at risk.
Advanced Strategies
- Stack community skills strategically! Most survivors can develop a fifth skill, often leading to a specialization (Munitions, Pharmacology, etc.). Plan your community wisely so that you have complementary specializations.
- Use Red Talon or Heartland survivors for elite traits! Recruiting Red Talon contractors from Daybreak provides powerful skills, like fully-leveled Munitions or Computers, that far outpace your standard survivors.
- Save Plague Cures! Rather than using a Plague Cure immediately, let a survivor sit at stage one for a little while if you need them active and out in the field. Before they hit stage two, use the Plague Cure. This method reduces the risk of contracting the plague a second time.
