Can Zombies See Flashlights in State of Decay 2?
Thankfully, zombies in State of Decay 2 cannot see your flashlight. They’re blind and relatively dumb overall, so you can wander the world, exploring and looting as you please, with your flashlight always on.
At this point, after over 600 hours in the game, I rarely turn off my flashlight. Even during daylight hours, that light blinds every community member I talk with. It’s just easier that way!

State of Decay 2 Nighttime Tips and Tricks
If you’re wandering around at night in State of Decay 2, here are a handful of tips and tricks to ensure you make it back to home base:
- Take your time! If you’re not paying near-constant attention to the minimap, you might stumble straight into a horde while looting at night. It’s sometimes too dark to spot them rounding the corner ahead.
- If you don’t feel like leaving your base, plan loot runs, repair weapons, and remove junk from your inventory.
- Take a walk around the neighborhood, looting any leftover containers and clearing out the occasional zombie.
