Starfield: How to Wait

As you trek across the Settled Systems in Starfield, you’ll inevitably find that not every quest or NPC is available at all hours. You may need to sit down and wait briefly before continuing. There’s no rush, though. Here is how to wait in Starfield!

How to Wait in Starfield

To wait in Starfield, find a comfortable spot to sit down, like a couch or bench, or a bed, like the one in your starship, and then hit ‘Y’ on a controller or ‘B’ on a keyboard to wait. You’ll then have an opportunity to select precisely how long you want to wait in hours.

While you’re more likely to find a chair or stool to plant yourself in for a short period, it’s usually better to wait in a bed in Starfield. Alongside passing time, you’ll also receive the well-rested bonus, which grants an additional 10% experience bonus.

How Does Time Work in Starfield?

You’ll note that when you sit down to pass the time, you have two units of measurement to consider: Universal Time and Local Time. In Starfield, Universal Time is most often used while traveling through space, while Local Time is the current time when you’re planetside.

As such, if you’re passing the time planetside, focus on Local Time. If you’re sleeping in your ship while traveling, look to Universal Time.
