As you explore the galaxy in your suped-up starship, you’ll inevitably stumble upon other vessels, space stations, and medical facilities you may dock with. If you’re successful, there’s loot, characters, and quests to uncover. But first, here’s how to dock in Starfield!
How to Dock Your Ship in Starfield
To dock your ship in Starfield, approach any vessel or station and slow your thrusters down. When you’re close enough, you’ll spot the “dock” command appear on your HUD. On a controller, hold down ‘X’; on a keyboard, hold down ‘R’ to dock with another vessel.
It’s important not to fly too fast, as you may crash into the other vessel while attempting to dock. Slow your roll!
Once you successfully begin to dock, a short cutscene will play in which your docking port extends and connects with the other end. After that, you’ll regain control from the cockpit, and you can board, undock, or stand up and walk around your ship in relative safety.

Can You Dock at Space Stations in Starfield?
As you travel across the Settled Systems, several space stations float above countless planets. You can dock at most, if not all, of these space stations by flying slowly toward them, waiting for the command to appear, and then choosing the docking option. You’ll connect like normal as if you were attaching to any other ship in the game, and then you may board and walk around.
