A big part of Roadside Research revolves around studying your human clientele, learning more about their weaknesses, and reporting back to the mothership in preparation for the upcoming invasion. To accomplish this task, you must earn alien research points, stemming from various sources. One of the best early-game sources for research points is the camera, so here’s how to take pictures in Roadside Research!
How to Photograph Humans in Roadside Research
First, we need to unlock the camera. It’s not a default tool.

To unlock the camera in Roadside Research, gather enough research points by depositing human junk into the analyzer in the back room. It requires 450 points to unlock, making it rather expensive. But it’s an investment. You’ll earn that back within a day or two!
With the camera unlocked, a few will spawn on the pegboard in the back room, beside the analyzer. Go ahead and pick one up.

With the camera in hand, hold down the right-click (Mouse) or LT (Controller) to bring up the camera HUD. In the top left corner, you’ll note the day’s target traits, such as hair and clothing color.

When a customer enters the premises, they’ll have a red camera icon over their head, indicating they’re a target.
You can snap a photo with Left Click (Mouse) or RT (Controller).

Just try not to snap a photo directly in their face; otherwise, you risk alerting the authorities and attracting unwanted attention from agents.
Unless that’s your goal, of course. My current objective is to snap a photo of an Agent without them noticing, which means I must first increase my IRCON Level to coax an investigation. Sometimes, that means blatantly taking photos of customers.
