Running a successful gas station and convenience store on Earth is no laughing matter; it’s tough work for a few-fingered alien from the far reaches. But you must prevail, for the good of the invasion. Part of that gig means refilling gas tanks—both the gas pump and a customer’s car gas tank—and that’s challenging. It’s not immediately clear, and you’re leaving money on the table by not being quick. Here is how to refill gas in Roadside Research!
How to Buy More Gas
Right, first and foremost, you need more gas. You can’t just will it into existence; a can costs money, which you’ll flip for a profit.

Head to the panel in the back room, and select ‘Shop’. From there, you’ll find your various products, and you can and should sort by ‘Fuel’ along the top row. It will narrow the listings down to:
- 87 – Jerry Can
- 89 – Jerry Can
- 93 – Jerry Can
- Diesel – Jerry Can
Eventually, you’ll be able to invest in larger quantities in the form of entire barrels. For now, you’re stuck with a jerry can, which only fills the pump approximately halfway.
How to Refill the Gas Pump
Great! Now that you’ve restocked your gas supply, wait for the delivery truck, offload your goods, and then grab one of those jerry cans. Head out to the gas pump out front, and with the jerry can in your hand, use Left-Click (Mouse) or RT (Controller) to add fuel to the gas pump.

Hold down the action button until the pump is full. You may have leftover gas in the can; if so, bring it back inside and leave it in the backroom for now.
How to Fill Gas Tanks
You’ve checked off a few key steps now. You have a supply of gas. Your gas pump is full. It’s time to refill the gas tank of a car, earn some money, and send that human on their way!

First, start by taking the customer’s money. You can’t refill the tank without first accepting the order and the cash.
Once you have the money, turn to the gas pump and pick up the nozzle, then attach it to the fuel tank access port (Can you tell I’m not a mechanic?) on the side of the vehicle, as shown in the screenshot above!

With the nozzle firmly attached to the vehicle, turn back to the gas pump and select the type of gas the customer requested. In this case, my customer wanted 93. So, I push the yellow 93 button.

With the proper gas selected and the target amount now on-screen, turn your attention to the yellow button beside the nozzle holder. It’s the one with a finger pressing a button icon. Go ahead and hold that down, watching as the green bar on-screen fills. Once it reaches just over the target amount, stop and disconnect the nozzle, returning it to the holder on the gas pump.
Congrats, you just earned money by refilling a gas tank in Roadside Research!
