Roadside Research: How to Lower Suspicion

While you’re frantically running around trying to restock shelves, clean toilets, and fill gas tanks, the Earth’s finest agents are encroaching upon your peaceful haven. They want what is rightfully yours: Earth! Your job isn’t just to sell soda and bug spray, it’s to lower suspicion in Roadside Research so that you may prepare for the alien invasion in peace!

How to Lower Suspicion in Roadside Research

Some of your actions—and in some cases, inaction—around the humans results in increasing suspicion. If the bar in the top right of your HUD increases, it triggers varying levels of agent response. At its highest, you’ll wind up with agents encroaching upon your business with reckless abandon. It’s best to lower suspicion and focus on running the gas station successfully. Play the long game!

Wait It Out

The suspicion meter slowly de-escalates over time. You’ll note the bar growing smaller, and your status dropping down a tier as each segment of the bar dissipates.

The best thing to do? Wait. Keep yourself busy, but just waiting it out is enough for the suspicion meter to disappear entirely.

Clean Up After Yourself

Roadside Research Alien Goop

Dirt is one thing, but leaving behind alien goop like in the screenshot above is an excellent way to attract unwanted attention. I forgot about this pile.

The moment you notice goop, clean it up. If you let the humans discover your slop piles, they’ll alert the authorities. By cleaning it, you reduce suspicion.

Act Normal

If your suspicion meter is rising, don’t go out of your way to snap photos in people’s faces, or probe anyone, or do anything else that’s alien-like. Just act normal.

Go about your daily business: restock shelves, check out customers at the counter, refill gas tanks, etc. Just don’t shout from the rooftops that you’re an alien here to conquer the planet!
