Outward 2 Wows Us With New Trailer And Release Window Announcement

With so many recent RPGs falling through, those on the horizon seem farther away than ever before, and the titles we loved recently, like Baldur’s Gate 3, have been played to death. It’s time for something new, something unique and awkward in equal measures, but with enough charm to set it apart. It’s time for the Outward 2 release window to remind us why we love this cult classic series!

Outward 2 now has a release date—Summer of 2026—and they’re looking for playtesters to try out their game. You can register for playtesting on the Steam page for the game or on their official site.

What is Outward 2?

Outward 2 is an action RPG with survival elements sprinkled in. Your goal is to explore the fantastical world of Aurai, defeating monsters and enemies as you go. You’ll have to manage your hunger, thirst, exhaustion, perilous weather, and even the weight of your backpack as you explore.

Your character is highly customizable in terms of weapons, equipment, and skillsets. However, unlike games like The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, where you’re essentially a god in human form, Outward 2 does not hold your hand—you are just a regular person with no special powers, abilities, or strengths. You must carefully prepare for every fight, every encounter, every enemy. And if you fail, you must live with your mistakes! You may have permanent injuries from a failed encounter, waking up in town badly injured, or being found by an NPC and brought back to health.

You don’t need to play this game alone, however. Ouward 2 allows for online play as well as split-screen co-op gaming! While there isn’t matchmaking, you can easily find players in their Discord server to join.
