You’ll notice the prologue of the game provides you with a few basics, like shoes, gloves, a baseball cap, and even a chest rig. But it doesn’t give you pants. You’ll drop into the world in boxers, so good luck! But you can craft pants and other useful armor pieces using the right resources. Here is where to get Hide in Once Human!
How to Get Hide in Once Human
The most accessible source of Hide in Once Human stems from the Eclipse Deer and Fawn roaming the game world. You can find these wild animals most often in groups of three to five, with the occasional lone Deer roaming around the highway.
Most take a single arrow to the noggin to take down. You’ll then walk up and hit “F” to skin the Eclipse Deer, rewarding you with Deer Milk, Deer Meat, and Hide. You won’t receive Deer Milk every time, it’s a bit more rare, and you won’t receive Hide each time, but it’s less rare. You’ll definitely receive Deer Meat, though.

Why You Need Hide in Once Human
You require Hide to create a handful of the game’s crafting recipes. Once you plop down your base or tent, walk up to the workbench and begin crafting by interacting with the work table. From there, select “Armor Crafting” and take a gander through your available crafting recipes.
You’ll note that most require Hide. When you first start, you’ll have crafting recipes for:
- Rustic Hat
- Rustic Jacket
- Rustic Pants
- Rustic Shoes
- Rustic Gloves
These items require Hide, and they’re base-level armor that’ll keep you alive in low-level zones. As mentioned, the game’s prologue provides you with most of what you need to start successfully in Once Human. But you won’t have pants. You should prioritize placing your campsite and crafting the Rustic Pants to complete your ensemble!
