Of the many video game announcements over the past few years, only a few genuinely stood out and kept me on the edge of my seat in anticipation month after month. One of those titles was Nivalis. Developer Ion Lands is hard at work on a cyberpunk commerce and life sim game in which you may start a business, like a noodle shop, and work your way up to an empire. It’s right up my alley, but we still don’t yet have a release date for Nivalis. Not even with the latest January development update.
The recent January 2026 Development Update for Nivalis unveiled a bit about the background progress on the game, albeit not much. Since you’re likely interested in the release date info, here you go:
We also want to acknowledge the frustration some of you have shared about the lack of a new devlog and clearer news around the release date, and we want to address your concerns. Our intention was to share a devlog with more concrete information, which is why we decided to push it a little later than usual. We were really hoping to be able to announce the release date by now, but we ask for just a little more patience: it’s really important to us to communicate a precise date – our Nivalis Day – and to do that, we still need to put together a few final pieces of the puzzle. We know you’re just as excited as we are for this moment, and we can’t wait to celebrate it together.
It’s not all sour news, though. The team is also working to expand VO implementation, and now has more than 135+ characters in the game with full voice acting.
We’re hard at work polishing all the features we’ve been showing over the past months through our monthly devlogs, and the implementation of VO – which we talked about last October – is steadily moving forward. It’s been a huge task, but finally giving a voice to 135+ characters, both main and secondary, has truly added an extra layer of immersion we were aiming for. Seeing Nivalis come alive like this has been incredibly rewarding for us, and we can’t wait to share it with you.
Don’t forget to Wishlist on Steam if you’re at all interested in Nivalis!
