A new trailer from Frontier has been released revealing Planet Coaster 2, alongside a release window stating that the game will be released sometime in the Fall of this year. Of course, as with any new reveal trailer, we have a plethora of new features and game details revealed to get excited about.
Pools, Slides, and Rides
One of the major new additions to Planet Coaster 2 is the various water attractions that can be added to your park. These include pools, wave pools, lazy rivers, and even water coasters!
Based on the reveal trailer, guests will be able to go on all sorts of fully designable slides and pools. Some guests even have pool tubes and pool noodles they float on. This might hint at an expanded lineup of shops that may be available to the player.
We got a glimpse at some of the new rides, and they look awesome. There are new coasters, swinging rides, and even a teacup ride. One thing’s for sure: You can never have too many rides.
Frontier’s main coaster was the surf coaster, which was reminiscent of RollerCoaster Tycoon 2’s literal surfboard coaster from the Wacky Worlds expansion.
Alongside all of the new attractions, Frontier has taken things a step further with park management.
Under New Management
The first Planet Coaster had a decent amount of things to manage in your park. The management aspect involved cleaning up trash, maintaining rides, and servicing your guests. However, Planet Coaster 2 now has even more for you to check up on.
Most of the new things are centered around keeping your guests healthy and happy, especially around your pool areas. Guests need sunscreen and shade provided so they don’t overheat. They also require changing rooms and lounging areas. Furthermore, you need to make sure your guests are safe by stationing lifeguards and checking the depth of your pools.
These new mechanics sound like they’ll breathe life into your guests. Moreover, the new heat and shading mechanic applies to everyone in the park. This means you’ll have to keep your queue lines shaded, too, especially for longer rides.
With the new rides and management systems, Frontier has gone even further by improving the customization.

Mind Boggling Detail
If you’ve played the first Planet Coaster, you’ll know customization is vital to the game. Luckily enough, Planet Coaster 2 features even more options and tools to customize every inch of your park.
In my opinion, the most significant new addition is the ability to place objects on the rides themselves. You can see this in action in the reveal trailer near the end when a submarine and rocks are built and placed on the teacup ride.
This means that you can now theme your attractions even more than the first game, and it only gets better.
Planet Coaster 2 will let players take control of objects by allowing them full customizability. You’ll be able to edit the color, shape, and size of any object in the game. Furthermore, roller coaster creation, pathing, and the event sequencer tool are also improving.
Everything sounds so amazing, right? How could it possibly get any better?
Well, it looks like Frontier has also included a first-person perspective mode so you can walk around and examine your park from the perspective of your guests. You can also share your park by putting it on the workshop for other players to download and experience.
The Waiting Game
While the game’s release period is set for the Fall, you won’t have to wait long to see some gameplay. Frontier has revealed that a first look at gameplay will be shown on July 31st.
Overall, I am beyond excited for this game. One of the first games I ever played was RollerCoaster Tycoon 2. Then, Planet Coaster came out, and I was utterly obsessed with it as I tried to create the perfect park.
With all of these new features coming to Planet Coaster 2, it sounds like it will be one heck of a ride.
