Mafia: The Old Country – Difficulty Settings Explained

I think that, to this day, Mafia 2 remains one of my favorite story-focused games. It’s an action-packed drama filled with memorable characters and set pieces. The third game, while entertaining in short doses, left much to be desired. But here we are, on the precipice of another major launch for the franchise. Mafia: The Old Country promises a return to form (man, I hate that saying!), and now we have our first look at the game’s difficulty settings!

Mafia: The Old Country Difficulty Options

As is common with such titles, Mafia: The Old Country features three distinct difficulty options: Easy, Medium, and Hard. I suspect we’ll see some sort of achievement or trophy for completing the game on Hard, but who knows for certain?

Easy – A less challenging experience.

  • Your weapons deal more damage.
  • Enemies are less accurate.
  • You gain more resources from looting and pickups.
  • Vehicles take less damage from collisions.

Medium – A balanced experience.

  • Your weapons deal standard damage.
  • Enemies have normal accuracy.
  • Vehicles take moderate damage from collisions.

Hard – A tougher experience.

  • Your weapons deal less damage.
  • Enemies hit harder and with higher accuracy.
  • You gain fewer resources from looting and pickups.
  • Vehicles take realistic damage from collisions.

Based on the studio’s description, where they claim you can find these difficulty options in the settings menu, we suspect you can change your difficulty anytime during gameplay. That’d be super helpful during particularly tough missions. Race cars, anyone?

Anyway, which difficulty setting will you play Mafia: The Old Country on at launch?

Mafia: The Old Country is out on August 7, and The Guide Hall can’t wait to don a suit and tie once more!
