Do you remember sitting down on the couch with your sibling or best friend, both with controllers in hand, to play the same game via split-screen? It was a fantastic time, with arguments about screen peeking and weapon drops, but those days appear long lost. For instance, is Helldivers 2 split screen? Should it be?
Is Helldivers 2 Split-Screen?
Unfortunately, Helldivers 2 does not have split-screen play. It’s a cooperative-centric game, with you and up to three other players tackling missions against the Automatons and Terminids, but you can’t play it on the same screen. Everyone requires a copy of the game to play multiplayer.
While I certainly miss the days of old when split-screen play was commonplace, I don’t have many people to sit and play with in the same room these days. That’s not always the case for most people, though. Helldivers 2 seems like the perfect fit for a split-screen mode.

Can You Play Helldivers 2 With Just Two Players?
You can play Helldivers 2 with just two people. If you don’t want to connect to a public game or allow random players to join your mission, you can navigate to the settings and turn “Matchmaking Privacy” to “Friends Only.” With that active, you’ll only play with those you invite.
If you want to play with only two of you, that’s possible. Depending on the difficulty, it may prove challenging. But hey, if that’s your thing, then by all means!
