Is Fallout 76 Cross-Platform? – Answered

As someone who has spent a lot of time—many hundreds of hours—exploring the world of Appalachia, I’m always keen to play with others. Unfortunately, most people I know either play on PlayStation 5 or PC. It’s not a problem on PC. That’s where I play! However, PC to PlayStation 5 may pose some issues. Is Fallout 76 cross-platform?

Can You Play Fallout 76 Cross Platform?

Unfortunately, Fallout 76 doesn’t feature full-fledged cross-platform functionality. You can play between PC storefronts, including Steam, Microsoft Store, and PC Game Pass. Unfortunately, PC players cannot connect to Xbox players, for instance, for true cross-platform play.

For additional context, Fallout 76 is currently available on:

  • PC
  • Xbox One
  • Xbox Series X|S
  • PlayStation 4
  • PlayStation 5

If you subscribe to Xbox Game Pass, you can download the online adventure for no additional charge and check out the countless content updates made over the years. I promise it’s an entirely different game from launch!

How to Play Fallout 76 Online

You don’t need to worry about playing online or figuring out how to connect to a party with your friends! Fallout 76 is always online, with the primary servers allowing you to connect and play with up to 24 players. Alternatively, if you subscribe to Fallout 1st, you can create a Private World, where you and a handful of friends can party up and play together without worrying about anyone else.

If you don’t mind playing in a public lobby, invite your friends to party from the main menu, using the social function, and then find a server.

If you choose to play with everyone else, it might be wise to enable Pacifist mode, which disables PvP. No one can attack you or your base, allowing you to focus on quests and exploration.
