Is Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days Multiplayer? – Answered

There’s an age-old argument out there that not every game requires multiplayer, and I’m inclined to agree. As a parent, I find I have less and less time these days to enjoy a single title in multiplayer, which most often requires a significant time-sink. But a single-player game I can enjoy for fifteen, twenty, maybe even thirty hours? That’s right up my alley. With all that said, is Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days multiplayer?

Can You Play Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days Co-op?

As of right now, there is no multiplayer, co-op, or PvP mode in Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days. It’s a single-player zombie survival game in a similar style to State of Decay 2 and This War of Mine, albeit with a bit more tension and…well…zombies.

You control a single survivor at a time, though you can relay orders and assignments to your other survivors while exploring and looting unique points of interest, fighting zombies, and working toward an escape.

Could it use multiplayer? Yes and no. The perspective is the biggest problem when considering co-op or multiplayer of any kind. It’s a very limited view. But the gameplay itself does lend its hand quite well toward a cooperative experience.

Is Multiplayer Coming to Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days?

There is zero mention of multiplayer of any sort coming to Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days on its Early Access Roadmap. Furthermore, the developer previously stated via the Steam Discussions that they aren’t planning multiplayer currently.

Could that change? Of course. If they see enough interest and the launch goes well, along with subsequent sales during ongoing development, they may decide to implement co-op. But it’s unlikely.
