Infection Free Zone: How to Form New Squads

Without a few squads to loot adjacent buildings and protect the civilians from the undead, your community won’t survive long. But forming a second squad, or even a third and fourth, comes with a few challenges. Here is how to create new squads in Infection Free Zone!

How to Create New Squads in Infection Free Zone

One of the earliest objectives in the game is to form an additional squad to cover more ground. With a second squad on the move, you can loot more houses and better protect your community. It’s a no-brainer. However, it’s somewhat confusing.

To form a second squad—and additional squads after that—select the “walking man” icon in the top right of the HUD. It’s like a bigfoot wandering through the streets. Once you click this icon, it opens the “Squads” tab, where you may “Create New Squad.”

The game will automatically fill the squad with random survivors from your community. If you don’t have enough free survivors, you’ll only receive a partial squad. You may then select the squad and choose one of the missing headshot icons to fill out the rest of the unit with new survivors.

Once done, you can order the new squad around like the first. I recommend immediately looting the surrounding area, as you’ll soon receive the task of exploring the smoke clouds in the distance. This task leads to acquiring new survivors, which means more mouths to feed!

As you loot in Infection Free Zone, you will inevitably uncover other weaponry for your squad. It’s not difficult to find an assault rifle, which drastically increases your firepower and survivability.

Once you find a better weapon, select the squad you wish to equip, and then underneath their portraits, you’ll note a green weapon icon. It’s likely a handgun. You can click and drag this handgun icon into the inventory, then do the same with the new weapon up into the equipment slot.
