Suppose you’re not feeling very creative or can’t pinpoint a specific city on the map; worry not. The game recommends a handful of ideal starting locations to help you learn the game. Now, some of these maps prove more challenging than others. For instance, if you start in a large city, the undead population grows exponentially. It’s more difficult and frantic in the early game.

I found Atlanta and Oakland, both major cities in the USA, to be some of the more challenging experiences overall. The same goes for Guangzhou. The pre-apocalypse population in all three cities is mindblowing, so imagine the zombie apocalypse!
For an easier time learning the game’s mechanics, I recommend picking Peschiera, Italy. You start on a small island with only a handful of bridges leading to your HQ, meaning you can blockade the area relatively quickly and easily. But don’t grow complacent because the zombies can swim. Otherwise, it’s fantastic for a long-term community!
