In any cozy game, one of the biggest headaches is usually caused by inventory management in the early game. You have extremely limited bag space. It’s usually one of my biggest gripes whenever I start a new game. But hey, that progression is part of the experience, right? In any case, it won’t be a problem much longer, because here’s how to increase your inventory in Coral Island!
How to Upgrade Your Inventory in Coral Island
To upgrade your inventory size in Coral Island, you must let a few days pass in-game until you receive a letter from Sam, the town’s General Store owner, offering the first bag upgrade. For just 500 coins, he’ll sell you an increased inventory size up to 20. For 500, that’s a steal. By now, you should have more than enough coins just from selling odds and ends.
Personally, despite wanting to upgrade my farm and buy new seeds, I immediately dropped the cash on an inventory upgrade. It’s worth its weight in gold!
As you progress through the game, you will unlock additional bag slots. That said, the cost rises exponentially the more extensive the inventory upgrade. However, it won’t be long before you’re rolling in dough from all those crop sales, so fret not!

Where to Find the General Store
You must visit Sam’s General Store to buy the larger inventory size in Coral Island. It’s in the center of town, just past the central plaza in the shopping district.
As you can see from the map above, it’s centrally located and not overly challenging to find. If you’re like me, learning another farming town may be difficult after spending a lot of time exploring Stardew Valley. But don’t worry; you’ll quickly get the hang of this new world!
