How To Master Delta Force’s New Assault Operator

Delta Force received yet another major update with a fresh batch of content. Part of this new content package is Nox, a new Operator. He is part of the Assault class of operators, meaning his abilities are built around mobility and damage. We mentioned previously how D-Wolf is the most skill-reliant Assault Operator, thanks to the majority of his arsenal revolving around evasion. Well, now he’s the second most skill-reliant Assault operator. You can guess who the number one is.

  • Silent Assault – Nox’s ultimate ability. Activates jammers attached to Nox’s body, giving him a minor mobility boost, greatly reducing his sound, with the best part being that it counters Recon Operators. In Warfare, Nox becomes completely immune to recon abilities, allowing him to stealthily traverse the map. In Operations, recon abilities will only show the location where he activated Silent Assault, meaning he can deceive and evade. The downside of this ability is that enemies within range of his jammers will experience a visual effect. The ability shines the brightest during team fights in Operations, as the lack of sound will allow Nox to reposition while keeping enemies on edge. While being stealthy in Warfare isn’t a bad idea, sound plays a less important role in this mode, and with the greater emphasis on direct combat, Silent Assault is best for hunting down Operators with passive playstyles, like Luna.
  • Tactical Flashbang – Nox’s grenade. Enemies that are close and looking directly at the flashbang will suffer visual and auditory impairment, essentially stripping them of all coordination. Enemies that are close to the flashbang but not looking at it directly will still be affected, but with a greatly reduced effect that only lasts a fraction of a moment. Nox is not immune to the effects of his flashbangs or the flashbangs of enemy players. Don’t rush into a room immediately after throwing the flashbang, there’s a good chance you’ll end up blinding yourself and give the enemy an easy kill. Watch for the hit marker, and remember that even if there is one, there’s no guarantee the enemy will suffer the full effect.
  • Whirlwind Disc – Nox’s secondary ability, a disc loaded with shrapnel that is also capable of tracking enemies. Holding the assigned button will make Nox attempt to lock on. Lock on takes a second, and you need to be somewhat close to trigger it. Once locked on, releasing the disc will make it travel towards the enemy’s head. Contact with an enemy or a surface will make the disc explode, dealing impact damage, applying a speed debuff, and dealing damage over time through bleeding. Nox can throw the disc without locking on, where it will travel in a straight line before falling. It can be used to check rooms, but its limited range makes it less reliable than other throwables/abilities. In Operations, if you position well with Silent Assault, Whirlwind Disc is good for taking down players with better gear, as the damage over time is a great counter against higher-tier ballistic vests. Like Silent Assault, it is a great ability in Operations, but just alright in Warfare due to the mode’s faster, more chaotic nature.
  • Deep Trauma – Nox’s passive ability and a straight upgrade to the core shooting. Enemies damaged by Nox will receive the Deep Trauma debuff. In Operations, it increases the time it takes to use health items and be revived. In Warfare, it extends the health regeneration delay. In Operations, being the less forgiving game mode, downing an enemy Operator already gives your team a huge advantage, so inconveniencing the enemy team even more just makes things better. It’s not as effective in Warfare since support players can be plentiful, and the time to kill can be ridiculously short. It’s good for helping your team finish off enemy players that have escaped Nox, and that’s it. Not terrible, but not great either.
PROSCONS
● Directly counters Recon players.
● Can reposition easily.
● Has a good chance of taking down better geared enemies.
● Needs to be extremely careful with his throwables.
● His abilities only truly shine in Operations, since Warfare favors much more confrontational playstyles.
